What this experiment measures is the power that words have on water (or more accurately, cooked rice, which is dry rice that has absorbed water). Before you stop reading this article because you think I'm crazy, realize that I would be thinking the same thing as you: "Wow how can anybody in their right mind believe that?" But I was open to at least giving it a try. In fact, the success that many others had with this experiment is what inspired perform this experiment myself.
The experiment involves filling containers with cooked rice and writing either a hateful or a loving word for each container. After 1-2 months, you check the containers to see how much they've changed.
In my experiment, I used two containers, and on one I wrote "Thank You" and on the other I wrote "You Stupid Fool!". Every day I said "Thank You" to one and "You Stupid Fool" to the other. I tried to feel the corresponding emotion every time I said each phrase. A few months passed, and the "Thank You" bottle still looked like white rice. The "You Stupid Fool" container's rice, on the other hand, had deformed into a grey slush. Here are the pictures of the results.
The second row images have the label and tape removed to see the rice better. Notice the distinct difference between the rice on the left and the "sludge" on the right. Keep in mind that the two containers started out with the same contents: cooked white rice (I wish I'd taken "before" pictures).
Now what is the explanation behind these results? According to Masaru Emoto, a japanese researcher, water responds to our words, emotions, and thoughts. I find it hard to believe since words are supposedly a human invention. However, Emoto believes language to be a gift from nature, and that different cultures discovered words through time. Anyways, I think it is more of the quantum physics "we create our own reality" theory, and that water is sort of a medium in which our intentions are manifested more smoothly. Of course, the experiment may have been a success by luck, but keep in mind that many others have successfully completed this experiment.
I also saw a Youtube video in which a skeptic tried the experiment with the intention of disproving it. However, the fact that he succeeded in disproving it actually confirms my theory: he was expecting specific results to prove his belief, and that became his reality. You may be familiar with this approach to reality if you've watched such movies as The Secret or What The Bleep?!; reality is something that we can partially (or maybe even completely) control, whether we do it consciously or subconsciously.
What are the implications of my results? If words have influence over us, we should pick who we associate with carefully. Stay away from people who make you feel bad or say bad things to you. Just look at what a single negative phrase could do to cooked rice: it slowly melted into disgusting grime. Disconnect from these sources of negative energy as soon as you can. You can't change another person, you can only change yourself; so make sure your friends resonate with you in a positive way.
I am going to repeat the experiment, but this time, since I know it has a good chance of success, I will make sure to take before/after pictures, carefully measure equal amounts of rice and water, establish a control, etc.
For those of you that want to try out this experiment with me, here is what I'll use.
Materials:
- Two identical glass containers with tops/lids
- 1 cup of white rice
- Two cups of water
- Marker (preferrably permanent)
- Two index cards and tape OR two sticker labels
- Bring water to a boil in a pot
- Add rice and let boil for 2 minutes
- Cover the pot and reduce to low heat. Leave a small opening if the top doesn't have a steam valve.
- Let simmer for 10 minutes
- While waiting for the rice to cook, write "I Love You" on one index card/label and stick it to one of the containers (use tape if necessary)
- Repeat step 5 for the other container, but write "I Hate You" instead of "I Love You" on the label/index card.
- When the 10 minutes have passed, turn off the heat and place equal amounts of rice into both containers. I'm going to use one cup of white rice for each container.
- Seal the containers with their respective lids and place the two containers at least one foot apart from each other.
- Wait at least 30 days to notice results
If you are absolutely sure that this experiment is not going to work, then DON'T DO IT. If you don't believe it's going to work, then that will become your reality. If on the other hand, if you are an open minded individual who believes there is a possibility that this might work, and are looking for some sort of proof that there is more to this world than meets the eye, then search for "rice experiment" on Youtube. Watch several success stories until you truly believe that this experiment will work. You can also read about Messages from Water to learn more about the origins of this experiment. Finally, if you know this experiment is going to work, but would like to help me confirm my results, then get started right away. The more proof we have the better. Please report your results!
"Thank You" for reading this article :)
